Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about our underwater ROVs or your order? We’re here to help!

Can I get a GPS signal while the ROV is deep underwater?
No. GPS signals cannot penetrate water. The ROV must be at the surface or the GNSS module must be above the waterline to receive coordinates.
How should I maintain the GNSS Locator after use?
To ensure the longevity of the module, please follow these maintenance rules:
Freshwater Rinse: After every mission (especially in salt water), rinse the module and its connectors thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt and debris.
Drying: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth and let it air dry in a shaded area. Do not expose it to direct sunlight or high temperatures for extended periods.
Port Care: Keep the connection interfaces and O-rings clean and dry. If the pins are damp, dry them immediately to prevent oxidation or corrosion.
Storage: Store the module in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Does the GNSS Locator require a DVL to function?
No, a DVL is not required. While the GNSS provides surface coordinates, a DVL handles high-precision underwater displacement. Using them together provides the best navigation results (QYSEA U-INS Plus function), but the GNSS can operate independently to record deployment/retrieval points.
